What are you watching on TV tonight? Wednesday 5 September

I’m planning on watching The Block NZ

It’s the second-to-last episode of The Block NZ tonight (TV3, 7.30pm), and it (and tomorrow’s episode) is two hours long. It’s fairly obvious that the couples do complete their houses, as the photos are on real estate websites, and the public have been allowed to look through them, but I’ll still be watching tonight anyway. Exciting stuff. Can’t wait to see who wins on tomorrow’s episode – I bet they get a hefty sum of money from the sale!

After The Block NZ, at 9.35pm on TV3, is the start of a very, very good show, The Killing. Those of us lucky enough to have the Soho channel on SKY TV have already seen this series, but it’s great that TV3 have picked it up for the rest of you to watch, because it’s so addictive! On tonight’s first episode, on her last day of work, homicide detective Sarah Linden is drawn in to a new case: the disappearance of teenager Rosie Larsen.

Also starting tonight, on Prime at 9.30pm, is Game Of Thrones. This show has also screened on Soho, and it, too, is not to be missed! Prime will be cutting out some of the more graphic scenes to please the censors (it has a lot of sex and gore!), but hopefully that won’t ruin the show.

For those of you not too familiar with it, it’s a medieval fantasy series (sounds strange, but it works!) about seven noble families fighting for control of the mystical land of Westoros. Brilliant acting (particularly by Peter Dinklage, whose character, Tyrion Lannister, is a real scene-stealer) and big-budget and highly impressive sets and settings, combined with storylines that keep you on your toes, make this a fantastic show. Watch it.
