New Maori Television lifestyle show Ka TV begins October 13

Forget the gym, Maori Television’s new lifestyle show KA TV kicks off on October 13 at 7.00pm with a fun and entertaining approach to health and fitness you can enjoy from home.

Created by celebrity personal trainer and entertainer Mika, the series features real exercises for whanau ora and an easy, two-minute healthy recipe each week.

There is also an online competition to discover the craziest ways of keeping fit, plus the exciting dance-based exercise phenomenon Ka Boom.

“There are countless exercise franchises out there selling exercise to the masses, which is why Ka is so important,” Mika says.

“This is a real programme for people who don’t go to the gym and on a network where they can access it all for free from their living rooms.”

In each episode of KA TV, presenters Jay Tewake and Tara Puke will follow the challenging journeys of six everyday people on their personal quests to lose weight, stop smoking, gain self-esteem and improve their health and wellbeing.

KA TV draws on expert health advice and fitness tips from a team of New Zealand health and fitness leaders, including medical advisor Dr Garsing Wong, renowned naturopath Lani Lopez, and personal trainer Mika.

Each episode also features a loud and accessible electro-pop workout, combining cardiovascular exercise with the latest moves, led by Jay Tewake and his hot rangatahi dance crew.

KA TV’s fun and entertaining approach to health and fitness stems from the innovative programmes of the Mika Haka Foundation (www.mikahakafoundation.com), which provides free in-school and holiday programmes in communities throughout Auckland.

Tune in to KA TV on Maori Television every Saturday at 7.00pm for your weekly dose of healthy lifestyle entertainment for the whole whanau.
