Q&A with Mark Richardson

Mark Richardson is a SKY Sport cricket commentator, and a presenter on The Crowd Goes Wild.

What are you most looking forward to for the upcoming cricket season?
The England Tour. This is a big tour for New Zealand. Playing England is always a special occasion, as England is country that still rates test results highly. Success against England will earn our team world respect.

What is your most memorable moment from watching cricket on TV as a kid?
The underarm match. My dad went crazy and I cried…never seen my dad so upset at the telly.

What’s the most challenging aspect of being a cricket commentator?
Right now…being positive about our team without losing one’s credibility.

How do you think the Black Caps will perform this summer?
They’ll have their moments, both good and bad. England will be a big challenge but there is enough ability in our team to see some really good days for New Zealand. They’re good enough to win the T20s, they’ll win a couple of ODIs, but could struggle in the test.

What shows do you like to watch on TV (apart from cricket)?
Singing contests…Idol, The Voice, The X-Factor – doesn’t matter. Love them all.
