What to watch: Saturday 13 October

Must watch:

Mary Poppins (TV2, 6.30pm)
I haven’t seen Mary Poppins for YEARS, so I was very excited to see that TV2 are screening it tonight. It’s such a good movie for the family. If you haven’t seen it (which I know is unlikely, but there may be someone out there), it stars Julie Andrews as a loveable nanny who flies out of the windy London skies and into the home of two mischievous children.

Downton Abbey encore screening (Prime, 8.40)
If you missed the Christmas double episode, make sure you watch it tonight, ahead of the new season starting on Thursday. The Crawleys host a lavish Christmas party, but tensions are high, as Bates is arrested and the family are concerned about Mary’s future.

Record for later:

Antz (Four, 6pm)
Another good movie for the family to watch: A rather neurotic ant tries to break free from the rather totalitarian society he lives in, while trying to win the heart of the princess he loves.

Witness: Joplin Tornado (National Geographic, 8.30pm)
In 2011 the deadliest tornado Joplin, Missouri, had seen since 1950 struck the town, rendering whole neighbourhoods unrecognisable. See the event through the eyes of those who lived through it.
