Tribute to a Legend: Gordon Tietjens special on Sky Sport

Gordon Tietjens, current New Zealand All Blacks Sevens Coach, 10 x Sevens World Series Title winner, IRB Hall of Fame inductee, CNZM was recently feted by the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union at Mount Maunganui in recognition of his peerless career.

Sky Sport was there to capture the evening, during which tributes were paid to a surprised Tietjens by family, friends, former team mates and former New Zealand Sevens stars including Eric Rush, Christian Cullen, Glen Osborne, Karl Tenana, Hayden Reid, and current All Blacks Sevens Captain DJ Forbes.

Others in attendance on the evening included Joeli Vidiri, Amasio Raoma, Orene Ai’i, Brad Fleming, Peter Woods, Chad Tuoro, Zar Lawrence, Ed Coker, and Adrian Cashmore.

Mayor of Tauranga Stuart Crosbie, also presented Gordon with the Key to the City of Tauranga, and announced that the Number One rugby field at Blake Park, home of the Mount Maunganui Sports RFC, will be renamed ‘The Gordon Tietjens Field’

On Thursday November 22nd at 7.30pm, Sky Sport 1 will be broadcasting a 25-minute special filmed on the night, called Tribute to a Legend: Gordon Tietjens.
