TVNZ announces 2013 Breakfast co-hosts

Toni Street has been named as the new co-host of TV ONE’s Breakfast alongside Rawdon Christie.

Toni is well-known to television audiences as the co-presenter of TV ONE’s Saturday Breakfast show, and prior to that through her work as a sports presenter on ONE News.

TVNZ Head of News and Current Affairs, Ross Dagan says Toni was chosen for the job because of her background in live television and her recent success on Saturday Breakfast.

“Toni has proven herself to be an incredibly warm, engaging and intelligent presenter.  While she is no stranger to our viewers, we are pleased to welcome her permanently to the weekday Breakfast family.”

Toni, who is currently on maternity leave, says she is delighted to accept the job.

“I’m really excited about joining Breakfast fulltime.  Rawdon and I launched Saturday Breakfast together, so it will be awesome to be back on the couch with him again.  We’ve got lots of new and exciting ideas for next year, I can’t wait to be part of it”

Toni previously anchored TV ONE’s live coverage of the international netball, tennis and triathlon, as well as presenting the ONE News Sports Bulletin, before co-hosting Saturday Breakfast.

She will begin her new position when Breakfast returns in early 2013.
