Pippa Wetzell lands new gig

pippa-wetzell-fair-goShe may have missed out on the 7pm current affairs hosting gig that everyone seemed to be purporting she was a shoo-in for but the latest musical chairs talent shuffle at TVNZ has Pippa Wetzell taking over from Ali Mau’s vacant position on Fair Go.

Pippa Wetzell is set to return to TVNZ’s primetime schedule as the co-host of Fair Go.

Formerly of Breakfast, Wetzell has most recently been seen reading ONE News at 4:30. She replaces Ali Mau on Fair Go, who has moved to the new show Seven Sharp.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Fair Go team,” says Wetzell, who will host alongside Gordon Harcourt. “Not only is it an established and successful show, but I’m looking forward to upholding the standards and responsibilities that Fair Go has become known for.”

2013 will also see a new Executive Producer for Fair Go, Max Adams. TVNZ Editor Current Affairs Briar McCormack says the involvement of Wetzell and Adams will ensure the strength of the show continues.

Fair Go has been part of New Zealanders’ lives for 36 years, and everyone who works on the show is very passionate about sticking up for the little guy. Pippa is a fantastic addition to our team and a perfect fit for the show. In combination with Max as the new Executive Producer, and a few other new faces, Fair Go is set for another successful year.”

Adams has been a senior producer at TVNZ for 20 years, and was the first Executive Producer of Sunday.

“I am excited to be producing such an iconic New Zealand show,” he says. “I am looking forward to the new season, and to working with Pippa and the whole team, which is looking good.”

Fair Go returns to TV ONE in February.

pippa most likely turned down the job of seven sharp shes a clever woman but i think the hours fit her better on fair go given that its pre recorded during the day meaning shes home before 7pm

She says she’s thrilled to “established and successful” – maybe she felt it would be a more secure choice than Seven Sharp?
