Seven Sharp debuted on TV One last night with an average audience of 496,950. Here are some comparisons for you to give this figure some perspective:
First episode of Close Up in 2012: 504,670
Campbell Live, same night, 2012: 168,120
Last night’s episode of Campbell Live: 242,820
Last year, Close Up premiered on the 23rd of January so it was two weeks earlier. However, the same period last year would have seen the start date fall on the 6th of February, which of course is Waitangi Day. The average audience for that episode was 446,890.
It will be interesting to see how these numbers change over the course of the next few weeks but with more than double Campbell Live’s audience, TVNZ won’t be disappointed with the start.
