Viewers who felt short-changed by the Sonny Bill Williams fight this month have been offered a free pay-per-view movie by Sky.
The bout against South African Francois Botha was controversially cut down from 12 rounds to 10 mid-fight, leaving many of the viewers – who had paid $39.95 to watch it – feeling a little ripped off.
A letter was sent this week to viewers who purchased the fight, advising them that they can watch a pay-per-view movie on the house.
“Some of our customers have told us they were disappointed that the SBW fight was contested for 10 rounds when it was advertised as a 12 round fight,” the letter read.
“For this event SKY was the NZ broadcaster and we didn’t have a role producing the event, so most elements were out of our control – including the length of the fight.
