Doctor Who on the big screen around New Zealand

DoctorWho2011Event Cinemas around the country are planning a special event for Doctor Who fans this month.

The celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary this year, special screenings of ‘The Impossible Astronaut’ and ‘The Day of the Moon’ are being held with fans attending encouraged to dress up as characters.

The two episodes are from the beginning of the 2011 season and feature Matt Smith as the Doctor, Karen Gillan (Amy) and Arthur Darvill (Rory).

Sharon Wilson, BBC Worldwide Australasia’s head of marketing for global brands, said ”It’s an opportunity for fans to enjoy the programmes and participate in the whole experience in a way that they’ve not been able to before. We hope this will be the start of more BBC Worldwide cinema events with our partners Event Cinemas in New Zealand.”
