Campbell Live smashes record again

For the second time this week, Campbell Live has not only beaten TV One’s Seven Sharp again, but they delivered the biggest ratings the show has ever had.

On Monday, Campbell Live broke the 400,000 viewer mark for the first time since the show debuted back in 2005 with 430,460 viewers.  Last night saw the numbers jump higher again with an average audience of 434,170 viewers.

Seven Sharp drew an average audience of 404,840 viewers, 29,330 fewer than Campbell Live.

On Monday, TV3’s Director of News and Current Affairs, Mark Jennings, described the result as an upward trend that showed viewers were choosing current affairs over the ‘non-current affairs’ on TV One and added that “Campbell Live is now the clear choice for viewers who want to stay informed on what’s happening in New Zealand, and the stories that really matter.”

They must be absolutely glowing over at Flower St over these results.

Congrats again to Campbell Live and real current affairs!! The end is coming for Seven Sharp! Could this be another TVNZ blunder like the Hawkesby affair and the Coronation Street time changes!!

Seven Sharps not realy a blunder is it? It still rates well the slots just now more competitive and I would be interested to see how it rates demographically. But it is great to see Campbel live get the ratings John and his team deserve its just a shame its taken this long.

Well maybe it could be a mistake as they have lost the lead in the ratings that they had for many years. From the media reports and ratings info on other sites Campbell Live is over taking Seven Sharp in all the key demos. This must be a worry for TVNZ and if this trend continues could we see TVNZ give up on current affairs or relaunch Close Up.

This may be skewed but this is what MediaWorks put out for Campbell Live:
