My Kitchen Rules finale beats MasterChef NZ finale

mkrfinaleMy Kitchen Rules has trumped our very own MasterChef NZ in term of popularity.

TVNZ aired the finales of the two culinary shows over the long weekend and it seems the drama of MKR was slightly more of a draw for viewers.

Aaron Brunet’s win over Paula Saengthian-Ngam on Sunday night was seen by 532,510 viewers on TV One while Dan and Steph’s triumph over Jake and Elle on Monday night entertained 566,540 on TV2.

Both shows were up against The X Factor NZ on TV3, which posted 319,000 on Sunday and 363,980 on Monday.

    Love My Kitchen Rules.

  • And this is why the next series of MasterChef will have the “couples” format. As interesting as MasterChef is, it’s pretty boring seeing contestants quietly cooking away, poked into conversation by a Simon or a Ray. Whereas MKR gives the cooks someone to talk to and – all going well – fight with.

Very creative headline! The story of the long weekend was really ‘ X Factor Loses to Food Factor, twice.’
