New drama Wentworth gets away to a decent start on TV2

wentworthnzNew Aussie drama Wentworth got off to a reasonably good start on TV2 last night, winning its timeslot.

The prison drama – which features New Zealander Danielle Cormack in the lead role alongside another former Shortland Street actor Robbie Magasiva – drew 266,830 viewers in the 9.30pm hour.

The Prisoner remake was up against Castle on TV One (188,730) and Taken on TV3 (235,790).

The NZ figure is roughly a third of that which took in the premiere in Australia earlier this year on Foxtel’s premium content channel SoHo.

Wentworth has been renewed for a second season.
