Bear Grylls' New Zealand survival series premieres in the US

get-out-aliveThe brand new NZ-set Bear Grylls series Get Out Alive had its American premiere this week.

The NBC series, which was shot on location around Wanaka in the South Island earlier this year, sees Grylls attempting to train contestants in the art of survival in the wilderness while all the while showcasing the stunning environment of the Mount Aspiring National Park.

The premiere got off to a decent start, finishing third in its timeslot in total viewers and second in the adults 18-49 demo.

It finished third behind the reality juggernaut that is The Bachelorette and popular comedy series 2 Broke Girls.
