CBS announces renewals and return air dates

While TVNZ were freaking out about the public knowing when they’d be able to watch Lorde potentially accept a Grammy Award, the US networks are racing to announce when their shows are returning.  Under The Dome returns for its second season on the 30th of June while Extant, starring Halle Berry, debuts on the 2nd of July.  Extant is a mystery thriller about a female astronaut trying to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space. Her experiences lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.

Survivor: Brains vs Brawn will debut on Feb 26 while The Amazing Race returns on Feb 23.  CBS has also renewed its daytime lineup which includes The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.

CBS orders Taxi-22 pilot

Taxi-22, a single-camera comedy based on a hit French Canadian series of the same name has been ordered by CBS.  The show, which centers on a misanthropic and politically incorrect NYC cab driver, was to have had James Gandolfini as one of its executive producers.

ABC orders racial drama pilot

The screenwriter for 12 Years a Slave which won the Golden Globe on Sunday for Best Motion Picture – Drama, has had their drama, American Crime, greenlit for a pilot by ABC.  The show is described as the personal lives of the players involved in a racially charged trial are examined as their worlds are turned upside down.
