Sky Sport launching new shows and personalities

skysport_logo_rebuild5_CMYKI can’t wait for the day where Sky do the same thing for drama

2014 is proving to be a big year for SKY Sport, with two new rugby shows and a brand-new motorsport show joining our existing line-up of world-class local sports programming.

SKY Sport is kicking off the rugby season in style with two new LIVE shows #SKYRUGBY and #SKYRUGBY ENGAGE.

Hosted by former All Black legend Jeff Wilson, #SKYRUGBY is a weekly Monday night 30-minute studio show that zones in on the key water-cooler moments from the weekend and will include a discussion panel of former top players and experts.

Scotty Stevenson hosts #SKYRUGBY – ENGAGE, a weekly Thursday night rugby panel show that includes media personalities and journalists as they answer the burning questions of the week, test their rugby knowledge and preview upcoming matches.

It’s not all about rugby though – motorsport fans can look forward to #SKYSPEED – New Zealand racing legend Greg Murphy and SKY presenter Stephen McIvor will be reviewing the week’s best motorsport highlights on SKY and follow the progress of Kiwis on the world stage.

League show 40/20 gets a facelift, with former New Zealand Warriors player Awen Guttenbeil hosting the new-look programme and SKY league commentator Andrew Voss a regular guest. This year will see a bigger emphasis on Kiwi players in the NRL in New Zealand and Australia.

Melodie Robinson and Adine Wilson are the new Netball Zone hosts for 2014, with the show moving out of the studio and onto the court.

The brand new #SKYRUGBY and #SKYRUGBY – ENGAGE will take over from ReUnion, which will not be returning to SKY Sport. Former ReUnion host and SKY rugby commentator, Tony Johnson, will front a new-look rugby show, Rugby Nation, to air on PRIME and SKY Sport in the coming year.

New shows on SKY Sport in 2014:

#SKYRUGBY – Monday 3 March – 8.30pm – SKY Sport 2
#SKYSPEED – Thursday 3 April – 7.30pm – SKY Sport 3
#SKYRUGBY – ENGAGE – Thursday 3 April – 8.30pm – SKY Sport 1

I can’t say I agree. I think a drama with Awen, Scotty and Jeff would be pretty bad. There more hand held sitcom kinda guys.

I think you know what I meant

I think you know I was joking 😉

Especially as being a pay channel they can produce Drama that doesn’t has less restrictions as don’t have to rely on advertisers and being something for everyone.

    No more ReUnion, disappointed

    • Jas

You must admit that re-union had become a bit stale.

I think it was not enough budget and TJ was the main drawcard and he was allready stretched too thin with commentary work.. The supersport set in SA for one of last years episodes was a bit of an eye-opener on how much more other countries put into panel shows. I liked the 2012 format of reunion over 2013.

    #SKYRUGBY – Monday 3 March – 8.30pm – SKY Sport 2
    #SKYRUGBY – ENGAGE – Thursday 3 April – 8.30pm – SKY Sport 1

So there’s no Super Rugby roundup show until after round 3 and no Super Rugby preview show until before round 8?

  • Westcourt

The new shows don’t give the in depth discussion that Reunion did. A real gap in programming exists now. Tony Johnson was a far better host. This seems to be the view of many I know.
