Former American Idol runner up wins Democratic nomination

If Clay Aiken thought trying to win American Idol was a tough challenge, trying to wrestle a congressional seat for the Democrats off the incumbent Republican in what is a fairly conservative seat is going to be a very difficult task.

Aiken did manage to get a win though, claiming the Democratic primary in a hotly contested battle between him and Keith Crisco. Oh, did I mention that the 71 year old Crisco had a fall at his home on Monday and then died, prior to the envelope opening?

Thankfully, Aiken has had plenty of experience in winning votes but it’s going to be a whole lot of hitting the right notes with voters if he’s to win the latest competition he’s entered.
