Great Southern Television scores big in UK

Coast AustraliaGreat Southern Television achieved its’ largest ever ratings last night with 1.68m viewers tuning into their series Coast Australia on BBC2. (May 14)

In a rugged ratings night, the series went up against the finals of Masterchef UK but still managed a podium third place, beating 24 Hours in A&E and NCIS.

The result represents a first for an NZ production company playing in Primetime in the UK – ironically profiling Australia.

GSTV CEO Philip Smith told Throng that the result was fantastic, and he remains committed to making the same series for the UK audience about New Zealand.

“This shows that locally owned indies can joust on a world stage, we’re thrilled,” says Smith.
