Prior to her solo-career, Natalie had huge international success as the lead singer of multi-million selling Rogue Traders who were nominated for seven ARIA awards and Numerous MTV AVMA Awards amongst many others.

Natalie’s music career began in musical theatre productions such as Rent, Grease, Footloose and Chicago before she had joined Rogue Traders.

Shelton Woolright first became known as a drummer for hit New Zealand band Blindspott, whose self-titled debut album, was released in 2002 and reached No 1, going platinum in New Zealand in its first week of release. Shelton is currently a drummer for rock band I Am Giant. The band was formed in London in late 2008 and released their debut album The Horrifying Truth on 1 August 2011 in Australia and New Zealand, where it has been certified Gold and delivered four Rock Chart No. 1’s.

“I am absolutely stoked to be involved in X Factor NZ and I’m especially looking forward to working with the Groups. I’ve been working with labels, filmmakers and publishers as well as producing I Am Giant and other bands for years and I can’t wait to share my expertise with fresh eager minds. This is going to be awesome, and we are going to win!”

Co-executive producer Andrew Szusterman says: “We’ve had a fantastic support from all over the world and a terrific response from the Music industry. We couldn’t be happier to have secured Natalie and Shelton as the new X Factor NZ judges. Shelton has the perfect background to be mentoring our bands and Natalie’s experience in the judge’s seat for The X Factor Australia is invaluable.”

According to the NZ Herald on the X Factor NZ wikipedia page yesterday it had Ginny Blackmore while today it was Annabel Fay , sounds fishy to me 🙂

  • Trevor Ashman

I don’t know, we go from Natalia to Natalie, why not Natasha? 🙁

    • Shannon Ryan

Because Natasha was never in the running, and is forgotten. Natalie is a proven X Factor personality… and they like to keep it international.

      • Trevor Ashman

It’s funny that Natasha was asked for the first series but not this one 🙂

      • Harrison

Forgotten? She’s had more recent hits than All Saints.

      • mat

        Agreed.
Pretty happy with Natalie. She has a proven track record on X Factor, and she’s had music success internationally. Natasha was only ever spoken about by certain individuals here. She was never *in the running* as such .

Better yet lets go completely villain with Boris and Natasha – that will kill the show, or completely backfire if Moose and Squirrel enter into this fray too… Hmm… Moose and Squirrel?

  • Dave Ian Batten

Can I just say….. NO F****G WAY!!!!!! Natalie Bassingthwaite? I’ve all of a sudden lost interest in the show.

    • Trevor Ashman

I agree with you, what happened to the high profile international acts? 🙁

      • Dave Ian Batten

Yes indeed. It would be like watching a horror film.

  • Java55

Just a thought… If Natalie Bassingthwaite were to do a one off with I Am Giant, with whom Shelton Woolright is a drummer and successfully merge their music extremes into, say a ballad of some type, this could be something killer good.

  • Harry

I’m so disappointed 🙁 Hope Woolright is a fan of Country music and knows how to work with Mae Valley

Pretty stoked with these choices nats a natural and entertaining as well and I like I am giant
