The Schreuder Family through to Our First Home final

The Schreuder FamilyOur First Home’s Schreuder family will pocket a profit of $190,400 after their home was sold at last night’s live auction.

Originally from East Auckland, Robyn and Tom Schreuder, their daughter Karen and son-in-law Jono have spent the past 10 weeks turning the tired and dated two bedroom house they purchased in Titirangi, Auckland into a stunning three bedroom home.

With a final sale price of $721,000, the Schreuders have added 35.88% of value to their property, holding off strong competition from the Gourley family, they are now firmly in the lead to win the $100,000 prize.

TVNZ Head of Content, Jeff Latch, says the auction was brief but tense but thrilled the family’s commitment to the show has paid off.

“The Schreuder family have been an integral part of Our First Home, and we’re thrilled that tonight’s auction has been such a successful one for them. Tomorrow night is sure to be a nail-biter as we find out who will also take home the grand prize.”

The Schreuder family are delighted with the result and thankful the experience will allow Karen and Jono to take their first step on the property ladder.

“Tonight has been incredible. We couldn’t have imagined our time on the show would end like this. Not only has this been an awesome experience but also provided us with the opportunity to get into our next project.

“We’ve had such a humbling experience and we want to thank all our friends and family and the New Zealand public for supporting us through this amazing journey. We’re excited about the next chapter.”

On Sunday night, the Gourleys sold their house for $720,500, netting them a profit of $143,500 and a value increase of 24.87%, but it wasn’t enough to see them through to the final stage of the competition. It is the family who makes the biggest percentage gain at auction who will take home the additional $100,000 prize for their kid’s first house deposit.

Tomorrow night (Tuesday 14 April), the Wardlaw family will go to auction with their home in Te Atatu South. With the biggest of the three houses, could they walk away with the biggest increase in value?

It’s a night not to miss, as the Our First Home families learn who gets to take home the grand prize of $100,000.

Our First Home’s Live Auction Week continues on tonight at 7.30pm on TV ONE.
