Ratings: Breakfast has lowest week since going head to head with Paul Henry

What an interesting week of morning television. Paul Henry snuck in a surprise with the mother of the nation, Judy Bailey, stepping in to fill in for Hilary Barry who was away. And while Breakfast saw their lowest average audience of 110,582 between 7am and 9am thanks to a 20% drop on the previous week, Bailey’s impact on TV3’s ratings was naught.

Paul Henry in fact also dropped 7% on the previous week to an average audience of 51,074 viewers between 7am and 9am.

Last week the Herald claimed that Paul Henry “is not gaining viewers”. This is not true. The last four weeks have delivered an average audience that is 16% higher than the first four weeks of show.

The numbers are certainly better than Firstline, despite still not being spectacular, but the upward trend overall will be giving Mediaworks some comfort in what has been a fairly dismal ratings period of late.
