Ratings: Late night convergence

TV3’s late night news program Newsworthy drew an average audience of 68,958 viewers per night last week, an increase of 11% on the previous week. Despite the increase, the show’s predecessor, Paul Henry, delivered Mediaworks a higher average audience at the other end of the day for the first time.

The increase for Newsworthy was still 23% lower than what The Paul Henry Show was enjoying last year.

TV One’s Tonight was down 22% on the previous week to an average audience of 105,924 viewers per night which also represented an 11% decline on the same period in 2014.

Why don’t TV3 just do a standard late night news show that just does news like Nightline did? I quite liked when TV3 just had a basic news show between when Paul Henry was dumped from nights and when Newsworthy started up.
