TVNZ greenlights second season of Our First Home

Our First Home TV ONE’s local series Our First Home will return for a second season in 2016.

This multi-night show follows three families as they put everything on the line to help their children onto the property ladder.

Bringing the fun, feel-good factor to the nation’s DIY obsession, Our First Home tells the story that thousands of New Zealanders are living today. With property prices in New Zealand’s major cities soaring, many first-time buyers are turning to their parents for help.

TVNZ’s Head of Content, Jeff Latch says: “I’m looking forward to Our First Home being back on our screens, and seeing three new families give their all to get their children onto the property ladder.

“This is a series that really resonated with Kiwis, and season two will be even bigger and better,” he adds.

Our First Home series one was a ratings winner, with an average audience of more than 375,000 viewers throughout the series. The final live auction week attracted more than half a million viewers per episode.*

In the show’s finale, the Schreuder family took out the grand prize after making a total profit of $190,400 on their renovated Titirangi house, a percentage increase of 35.88%. This also won them the additional $100,000 prize and a luxurious African safari worth $20,000, with $10,000 spending money for the parents.

Daughter Karen says: “We are so grateful for the show and what we have gained from it. Not only have we come away with enough money for a deposit for our own very first home, but the skills and confidence it has given us. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for us all and as a family we all had such a great time. We can’t wait to get started on the renovation of our own house.”

Our First Home is produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production New Zealand, and will air on TV ONE in 2016.

Applications are now open for families to take part in Our First Home season two.

For Kiwis who would do anything for their family, head to: to apply.
