Our favourite Aussie hubbies are back!

It’s been a year since we left the House Husbands at the school gate and a lot has changed.

Lewis and Justin have their own handyman business, Mark has gone solo with a new People Management business, and Kane’s Pies has reached peak capacity. But all it takes is one drunken night for the guys’ lives to spin off in a new direction.

All they have to do now is convince their partners it’s a great idea…

On this season, which will continue to screen on TV One, expect to see the boys go crop top shopping; form a footy team; perform at a ballet recital; negotiate the politics of dealing with friends who have split up; have their nude portrait painted; and get chased down the street by a pack of cricket bat-wielding thugs.

Australia’s Nine Network Heads of Drama, Jo Rooney and Andy Ryan, were excited to announce a third season of their country’s most popular drama in February 2014.

“We are delighted with how Australian audiences have fallen in love with House Husbands,” they said.

“Having been voted Australia’s most popular drama after less than 12 months on air, we are excited to announce a third series and look forward to continuing to add to Nine’s incredible slate of drama.”

Directors of House Husbands‘ production company Playmaker Media, David Taylor and David Maher, were also thrilled to be announcing a third season.

“We are thrilled that House Husbands will be back on the Nine Network in 2014 for a third series,” they said.

“It is an enormous credit to our dedicated team of writers, cast and crew. It’s been a terrific year, winning the Logie for Most Popular Drama Series. We have a fantastic loyal audience and look forward to delivering them even more in season three.”

In tonight’s season premiere, the guys wake up to discover they bought a pub on a wild night out. Meanwhile, Lewis and Gemma’s marriage is rocked by secrets from Lewis’ past.

Despite what life throws at them, our four hubbies and their families will come up fighting, even if they struggle to pull off a ballet bun.

A fourth season of House Husbands will commence airing in Australia on Monday.

House Husbands, 8:30pm Thursdays on TV One.

Yippeeeee! And I’m so pleased that the programmers @ TVNZ listened to their audience by scheduling it for prime-time, instead of shortly before midnight like they did last time. I actually thought TVNZ had canned it, so it’s good to see it return.
