Viewers fell in love with them on The Block and House Rules, but now eight couples will battle it out in the all-new ultimate knockout competition.

Each week will see one couple eliminated. Who will be the last one standing?

In this exciting new amplified format, hosted by Scott Cam, Australia’s best reality renovating couples will be split into two teams.

Representing the home team from The Block are the Redbacks:

Josh and Jenna, VIC
Power couple from The Block in 2011 and The Block: All Stars in 2013

Kyal and Kara, NSW
The Super Ks from The Block: Fans v Faves in 2014

Michael and Carlene, QLD
Audience favourites from The Block Glasshouse in 2014

Ayden and Jess, QLD
Currently starring in The Block Triple Threat

They’ll be going toe-to-toe with the team from the across the tracks, all former contestants on House Rules, the Blue Tongues:

Carly and Leighton, NSW (originally from SA)
Winners of House Rules season one in 2013

Michelle and Steve, NSW
Runners-up of House Rules season one

Nick and Chris, VIC
Brothers from House Rules season one

Jemma and Ben, WA
New parents from House Rules season one

Each week our contestants will hit the road and travel to the suburbs of Melbourne to renovate not one, but two neighbouring houses. The homeowners are deserving Aussies who will have their dreams turned into reality as our superstar renovators transform their ordinary houses into stunning homes.

The finished product will be blind-judged by interior design experts Darren Palmer and Romy Alwill, who have been briefed by the homeowners on the style they want for their renovation. This brief is what the teams will be judged on for elimination immunity and competition survival.

Each team will be given a builder to help them manage their workload and trades.

And there’ll be more room reveals than ever. Teams will have to transform half a house in just two days! The couple who score the most points in the winning house in the midweek reveals will get immunity from elimination at the end of the week when the rest of the house is unveiled.

At the end of each week, the couple with the lowest score on the losing team will be eliminated. Never has it been more critical to work together as a team to protect your own survival.

The Blue Tongues are seasoned at delivering a complete house a week, while the home team from The Block have only ever had to do one or two rooms a week.

Who will reign supreme to collect the $100,000 winner’s cheque, with half going to the winning couple’s favourite charity and a top of the range Mazda CX5?

Reno Rumble, special launch 9:45pm tonight, then 8pm Mondays and 7:30pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays from August 10, on TV2.

I feel bad that people are gonna waste their time with this. Yuck. TV networks are getting more desperate by the minute.

This would have been better if it were actually on at a decent time especially the way they have been advertising a great show that’s pretty much at the dead hour time slot… Should have been on tv3 they would have given it a prime time slot my pick would have been 7.30pm on Wednesdays

no thanks. we don’t need another rubbish reality home renovation show. I’m sick of cooking and home renovation shows taking up multiple nights.

        Just don’t watch simple

Reno Rumble will screen at 8pm Mondays and 7:30pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays (straight after Shortland Street), from next week.

Sooo most people will have missed the first week? What kind of scheduling is this?

  • Jack

Mediaworks should have picked this show up since they secured rights to broadcast both The Block and House Rules. I reckon this show will be a hit with ratings due to it being aired on TV2 as its being watched by the younger demo and built in TV2 viewers.

Exactly. Surely someone missed a step there.

      Ouch

I feel like I’ve seen enough of The Block to last a lifetime. There wasn’t much time between the last Aussie one airing at 5pm weeknights and the one that’s showing now (both on 3), and now we also have this on … ugh (and I normally love renovation shows)!!! It’s just too much of a good thing and has worn out its welcome. Then we’ll have the NZ edition on 3 to look forward to.
Thank goodness MKR Australia is over now but what’s the bet the NZ version will start screening in a few weeks’ time. Talk about overkill.
I’m also sick and tired of all the ‘talent’ shows. There just isn’t anything decent on TV anymore. :-/

What will happen if the NZ version of MKR is all TV’s in NZ will blow up.

    Speaking of Australian crap….
