Readers are invited to share their own thoughts and observations on television in New Zealand as we attempt to crowd source all the details around what is happening in the industry and beyond.

This includes, but is not limited to, breaking news, bloopers from live TV and anything a television personality posts on social media that might be of interest to other readers.

Because TV3 and TV2 did so badly with X-Factor NZ, Masterchef New Zealand and My Kitchen Rules New Zealand, some are saying reality programming is dead and TV3 were mistaken in going in that direction. However, recent ratings successes for The Block, Grand Designs New Zealand and Masterchef Australia show that is not so. In my view Masterchef New Zealand, X-Factor New Zealand and My Kitchen Rules New Zealand are simply just poor productions, hence their public rejection.

Interesting to see that ratings for The Block have picked up, but I do think it would be a mistake for TV3 to do another one next year.

Grand Designs is different from the other shows, because there is no competitive/elimination aspect to it. It is really interesting seeing unusual buildings being built in New Zealand.
