The Amazing Race Season Finale

Sunday 5 July, 7.30pm
The final three teams are battling in out in the final leg for a once-in-a-lifetime shot at one million dollars, in tonight’s season finale of The Amazing Race.
Having travelled more than 30,000 miles, five continents, and countless hours racing around the globe, it's now down to the final leg for the three remaining teams, who will sprint to the finish line in Portland, Oregon, with the first team to reach the end winning one million dollars.
Looking back at how far the show has come, host Phil Keoghan tells BuddyTV.com that going into the first season, he didn't know what to expect.
"Actually, no one really knew what to expect and how it would turn out. Something like this had never been done before at this scale."
Phil says he had heard a couple of ideas about racing around the world, but what really stood out for him was the name behind the show. With Jerry Bruckheimer backing the show, he knew that it would be a success.
"Ideas are great, but the more important thing is executing great ideas and I was confident that The Amazing Race had the right people involved to execute it successfully."
Phil admits that the pace of the show has changed, and it is a lot quicker now with the way the show is edited and cut, which has an impact on the competitors.
Tasked with overcoming extreme adventure challenges, and requiring a highly logistical instinct to navigate their way along the intrepid journey, this season's contestants have endured through multiple difficulties throughout the competition, including a language barrier in Kazakhstan and Russia, and high altitudes in Bolivia.
With challenges including traversing a log high in the air, taking a 2,000 foot zip-line ride to an island, and playing a game board testing their memory of the events throughout the race, this final leg will be the crucial decider of who comes through and wins this Amazing Race.
