Larry Hagman, best known for playing Dallas villain J.R. Ewing, died Friday morning from complications stemming from his recent battle with cancer. He was 81 years old.

“Larry was back in his beloved Dallas, re-enacting the iconic role he loved most,” the family said in a statement via The Dallas Morning News. “When he passed, he was surrounded by loved ones. It was a peaceful passing, just as he had wished for. The family requests privacy at this time.” Hagman’s Dallas co-stars Linda Gray (who played his wife Sue Ellen) and Patrick Duffy (who played his brother Bobby) were reportedly at his bedside when he died, The Sun is reporting. Ten’s new morning news and talk show Breakfast is rating so poorly, that it surely could not be considered sustainable. Ratings average around the 40,000 mark, but have hit as low as 24,000 on some mornings.

With Seven’s Sunrise reaching over 400,000 on average, Nine’s Today not far behind in the high 300,000′s and ABC’s breakfast offering reaching around 70,000 over two channels, Ten’s Breakfast has had no impact on the three existing offerings. Continue reading »

US TV network CBS has announced it’s official list of what shows will be renewed and there are some big name shows missing from the list. Namely 2 and a Half Men.

Apparently Warner Bros are in preliminary negotiations regarding ordering more seasons. As Chuck Lorre said earlier this week, “It’s unusual when they cancel a show that’s in the Top 10, so I think there’s hope… [but] everybody’s gotta sign back up” — namely, Ashton Kutcher.

Also missing from the list are Unforgettable, Rules of Engagement, A Gifted Man, CSI:NY and CSI: Miami.

Here are the official renewed shows

Comedy
2 Broke Girls
The Big Bang Theory
How I Met Your Mother
Mike & Molly

Drama
Blue Bloods
Criminal Minds
CSI
The Good Wife
Hawaii Five-0
The Mentalist
NCIS
NCIS: Los Angeles
Person of Interest

Other
48 Hours Mystery
60 Minutes
The Amazing Race
Survivor
Undercover Boss

The Big Bang Theory has scored the ultimate nerdy coup: Theoretical
physicist Stephen Hawking will make a guest appearance in an upcoming episode. This add’s to the news that Star Trek’s Leonard Nimoy is doing a voice over on the show.

Hawking has been invited to appear on the show before, but at the
time he was too ill to make an appearance. Hawking will play himself and
has already filmed his “run in” with Sheldon (Jim Parsons). Previously,
Hawking has made guest appearances on Star Trek: The Next Generation,
The Simpsons, and Futurama.

Will Angelina Jolie be on Ryan Murphy’s – American Horror Story ?

American Horror Story is going after Angelina Jolie… sort of.

Ryan Murphy & Co. have quietly begun casting a major new Season 2 arch nemesis for Jessica Lange — and they’re using one of Jolie’s most famous movie roles as their template.

The series regular character, Gia, is described as a fierce, ferocious, extremely sexual and dangerous wild-child sexpot who harbors a secret — “think Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted,” reads the casting notice. As such, interested actresses should be in their mid-20s and Caucasian. Intrestingly Jolie also played the lead role of Gia in the telemovie about a supermadel of the same name and won an Emmy.

Production on Horror Story‘s second season doesn’t get underway in mid-July, so producers are giving themselves ample time to find the right performer for the plum part. I really can’t see the enigmatic Jolie heading to TV can you?

2 Broke Girls to Get Cameo from Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart is making a cameo on 2 Broke Girls.

The domestic diva will play herself in an upcoming episode of CBS’ rookie hit.

In the episode, Max and Caroline plan to crash a big event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art  that Stewart is scheduled to attend. Their mission: Get the legendary tastemaker to give their cupcakes the seal of approval.

Glee to do Whitney Tribute!

Though Glee has honored the late Whitney Houston with a timely cover of “I Will Always Love You,” it has been confirmed that New Directions will once again and more purposefully celebrate the musical icon this season with one of its signature tribute episodes.

First reported by E! Online, the drama is currently in production on the special installment that centers on the growing pains of Glee‘s graduating seniors. “It’s using Whitney’s music as a way to say goodbye,” a source tells the site. “A way to respectfully say ‘thank you’ for her music.”

Whitney Houston passed away February 11th 2012

Jon Cryer to put himself up for Best Actor Emmy rather than Supporting?

After six consecutive years of vying in the Supporting Actor in a Comedy race, Two and a Half Men‘s Jon Cryer reportedly will submit himself in the lead category at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards.

As noted by the Gold Derby awards-centric website, which first reported on the change-up, both Cryer (whose camp would not confirm the move) and then-costar Charlie Sheen submitted for Lead Actor during the first two years of Men‘s run, but with zero success. After Cryer downshifted to the supporting race starting in 2006, he netted a supporting nod every single year, while Sheen went on to amass four lead nods. Winning!

With Sheen “moved on” now, and the supporting comedy actor race as competitive as ever (thanks to the Modern Family men) — and, as Gold Derby points out, both Steve Carell (gone from The Office) and Matt LeBlanc (Episodes is not eligible this year) out of the mix, Cryer’s move seems prudent.

Is he strong enough to compete against other possible nominees including co-star Ashton Kutcher, in a show that is steadily declining?
