Saturday 23rd April

2.30pm on TV ONE: William and Kate: A Royal Love Story (documentary)

Following the news that Prince William and Katherine Middleton had become engaged, a brand new documentary became the definitive account of the love story between William and the girl who is to become his Queen. Saturday 23rd April

8.30pm on TV ONE: William and Kate: A Royal Romance (movie)

William and Kate: A Royal Romance is the story of the love affair between Prince William, second in line to the throne of England, and Katherine Middleton, daughter of upper middle class commoners. William and Kate met at St. Andrews in Scotland, as first year students living in the same dormitory and majoring in the same subjects. While they were dating other people, they became close friends.  The film suggests that it was only when William watched Kate modelling a see-though dress at a charity fashion show that he began to think of her in a different way.  The film tracks the ups and downs of their eight year relationship which was complicated by social pressures and the media. It claims that William was determined not to make the same mistake as his father Charles, who gave up the woman he loved, Camilla Parker Bowles, for the aristocrat chosen by his family. At the same time, Kate had to decide whether she would give up her freedom or live as a Princess under the rigid structures and intense publicity that seemed to torment William’s mother, Lady Diana.  Reuniting after a serious break up, William and Kate announced their engagement to a joyous reception. This movie stars kiwi actor, Nico Evers-Swindell who plays Prince William.

Sky Television has said that there are several more rugby stadiums around the country that are not up to standard in terms of lighting.

Waikato Stadium in Hamilton has been singled out as one of the major stadiums whose flood lighting is not up to World Cup standard, leaving the Hamilton City Council to shell out $410,000 to upgrade.

SKY TV’s Rugby World Cup project director Kevin Cameron has pointed out that some pockets of the stadium are not bathed in sufficient light.

“The point is that they’re all aware of where the deficiencies are and they’re all on a programme to make sure that that’s all addressed before the Rugby World Cup,” he told Newstalk ZB. “In the mean time we carry on and work within the conditions which are sometimes pretty trying.”

Cameron has not revealed what other New Zealand stadiums are not up to scratch.

Better lighting is needed for the stadiums to enhance the high-definition TV coverage and to better capture the effect of slow-motion images.

Evers-Swindell defends royal telemovie

NZ actor Nico Evers-Swindell has had to defend the telemovie he stars in as Prince William after critics panned it as “toe-curlingly, teeth-furringly, pillow-bitingly ghastly” among other things. The actor says the film was designed to get people in the mood for the actual wedding: “This wasn’t a British production, Tom Hooper didn’t direct this, this isn’t The King’s Speech. This isn’t an in-depth look at the royal family.”

Happy Days cast file lawsuit

The cast of iconic sitcom Happy Days have filed a lawsuit against CBS and Paramount Pictures over what they believe to be unpaid royalties from years of home video releases and licensed merchandise using their images. Ron Howard and Henry Winkler are not a part of the suit.

Arrested Development movie progressing

Disney actress Demi Lovato has confirmed that she is leaving the channel’s popular teen sitcom Sonny with a Chance. The 18-year-old will depart the series after two seasons, with the show rebranding as So Random!.

Media analysts are predicting Apple to wade deeper into the TV market beyond Apple TV as early as this year.

Several reports are indicating that Apple is preparing to launch a Smart TV towards the end of 2011 or early 2012.

Analyst Brian White from Ticonderoga Securities is predicting the product to differ from the existing Apple TV, which allows users to watch streaming content on a TV.

White believes the product “would go well beyond the miniature second-generation Apple TV that the company released last fall.”

He says the new technology would “provide a full-blown TV product for consumers.”

Robert Evans from i4u.com has given his predictions on how he believes Apple should go about entering the TV market.

Evans doesn’t believe why Apple couldn’t market a new 32” Smart TV for about the same price as a regular HD 42” TV in order to keep them attainable to consumers despite their ‘premium device’ status.

He also raises the option of involving Genius and Shuffle into the TV.
