What do you do when one of the biggest artists in the world gives you permission to use any song in her repertoire? Make the most of it, of course!

While the brand new season of Glee takes a hiatus both in the U.S. and New Zealand, FOUR’s bringing fans the series’ very best episodes, starting with “The Power Of Madonna”, screening on Wednesday, October 17th at 7:30pm on FOUR.

In 2010 the ‘Material Girl’ singer granted Glee the rights to her back catalogue, allowing for some of her most famous songs to be used in the series.

At the time of filming, Glee creator Ryan Murphy said: “It’s big… huge. We’re shooting it now. It’s got like 10 numbers in it, and the production value is very big.”

“We adore her and worship her, so when I’m directing, I’m always like, ‘Do it for Madonna’,” Murphy added.

But it wasn’t just Murphy who was excited to be working with the Madonna classics. At the time, the rest of the Glee cast admitted they could not wait to see their interpretations of some of Madonna biggest songs.

“I just can’t wait to see Amber [Riley, who plays Mercedes Jones] do a Madonna song. I know she’s going to rip it apart,” said Kevin McHale, who portrays Artie Abrams on the series.

Make sure not to miss this along with other Madonna chart toppers when FOUR goes back to one of the most classic Glee episodes on Wednesday, October 17th at 7:30pm on FOUR.

After spending a few years out of the limelight, this week sees former Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek return to our television screens when he stars as an exaggerated version of himself in FOUR’s brand new comedy Don’t Trust the B*** in Apartment 23, premiering on Tuesday, October 9 th at 8:30pm. Don’t Trust the B*** in Apartment 23 tells the story of a naive Midwestern girl, June (Dreama Walker) whose big city dreams are dashed during her first week in New York after she finds herself living with her worst nightmare – a morally loose party girl named Chloe (Krysten Ritter).

James Van Der Beek portrays a heightened version of himself; his alter ego has his own clothing label, Beek Jeens, and is best friends with Chloe.

“My character became this fictional creation concocted in some comedy laboratory,” Van Der Beek explains.

“When we started making up things on my rsum that don’t exist, it very quickly stopped seeming like me and started seeming like a parody of actors and Hollywood and pop culture in general.”

“I just thought it was so funny,” the actor continues. “A little bit of ego assassination is always a good thing. The less seriously you take yourself, the better work you do in general.”

And it seems like it’s working; critics have been very favourable about Van Der Beek’s fictional James Van Der Beek character, as well as the series itself. Make sure not to miss its premiere when Don’t Trust the B*** in Apartment 23 comes to our screens on Tuesday, October 9 th at 8:30pm on FOUR.
