20th ANNUAL NICKELODEON KIDS’CHOICE AWARDS SCREENS IN NEW ZEALAND.

The 20th annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA) hosted by singing sensation Justin Timberlake, screens exclusively on Nick NZ (Channel 41, SKY) on Saturday 28th April at 1pm and 9pm and Sunday 29th of April at 5pm.

A big slime-induced viewership record was set when the show screened live in the U.S on March 31, with a staggering 2.8 million kids aged six to 11 years old, watching the show. In the “tween” demographic, 2.6 million aged nine – 14 tuned in, both up on last year’s show. In total over 6.1 million viewers watched the show making it the biggest KCA event ever.

The show also set a record-breaking number of votes via online and text messaging with 40.8 million votes being cast by U.S kids.

Nickelodeon NZ Marketing Manager, Lauren Nola who attended the awards with the winners of Nick NZ’s KCA competition, 7yr old Natalia Carroll, 8yr old Breigh Biddle and their Mum’s, says the evening was phenomenal.

“Nick viewers can look forward to an amazing, star-studded show where kids reigned supreme!” says Lauren Nola, “Anything goes at the Kids Choice Awards, this year the Fave TV actor was announced by the pulling of a giant booger and thousands of kids went head to head in a burping competition against Justin Timberlake, not only an outstanding host, but also the reigning Best Burp champion.

“Sliming, burping, boogers, who could ask for anything more from an awards show?!”

No KCA would be complete without Nickelodeon’s tradition of covering guests in green slime. An unprecedented triple-star slime fest opened the show with green goo thoroughly soaking singer Mandy Moore, action star legend Jackie Chan and comedian Chris Tucker. Vince Vaughn also made history by reaping the rewards of the first-ever interactive sliming.

And not be out-done stuntman Ron Jones bungee jumped from a height of 225 feet and plunged into a bucket of Nickelodeon’s signature green slime 12-feet in diameter and five feet deep. American Idol host Ryan Seacrest provided colourful commentary for this sixth World Record Slime Stunt.

Stars on the night included Jack Black, Hilary Duff, Jessica Alba, Will Farrell and Tobey Macguire, amongst many more. Following her appearance at the Australian KCA’s also Bindi Irwin presented an award for Favourite Male Singer to host Justin Timberlake.

Grammy award superstar Gwen Stefani also rocked the crowd with songs from her new album “The Sweet Escape.”

New Zealand viewers can catch the biggest KCA’s ever exclusively on Nickelodeon (Channel 41 SKY) on Saturday 28th April at 1pm and 9pm and Sunday 29th of April at 5pm.
