His journey becomes an exploration of communal dining: pot-luck church dinners, street parties, ladies’ tea parties and family roasts. Edging down the Georgia coast, Jamie hears about a huge barbeque competition in Florida. With a team of people he’s met along the way he decides to try his luck against some of America’s most experienced barbecue cooks.

It’s late summer at River Cottage but the weather is far from seasonal. Torrential rain washes out Hugh’s entire hay harvest and his polytunnel full of tomatoes is beset with blight. Radical plant-surgery saves the tomatoes but the hay is lost. At least the wet weather has brought out the wild mushrooms and Hugh gangs up with expert foragers Nick and Paddy to exploit the situation. Armed with a shopping list, they visit several different woods with the aim of collecting a completely free meal – picking up pigeons, fungi, blackberries and crab-apples on the way. However they spot an amazing circle of giant puffballs and take one back for a meal. That night, Hugh bakes the puffball stuffed with pigeon breast, wild garlic and other mushrooms.

In this re-imagining of the original series, Kristin Kreuk stars as Detective Catherine Chandler, a smart, no-nonsense homicide detective with a tragic past and New Zealander Jay Ryan as Vincent, a veteran with a dark secret. As a teenager Catherine witnessed the murder of her mother, she would have died too but someone saved her. Years later, Catherine working alongside her police partner Tess, discovers a clue whilst investigating a murder that leads her to a handsome doctor named Vincent Keller, reportedly killed by enemy fire while serving in Afghanistan in 2002. She discovers that it was Vincent who saved her those many years before, but he has been in hiding for the past 10 years because when enraged becomes a terrifying beast. Catherine agrees to protect his identity in return for any insight he may have into her mother’s murder thus beginning a complex relationship between the two, both powerfully drawn to each other yet aware of the extreme danger their connection may cause.
