It takes an optimistic high-school teacher (Will Schuester, played by Matthew Morrison) attempting to refuel his own passion to put the spark back into a languishing group of Glee Club outcasts, who set about recapturing their starry-eyed goals with a series of show-stopping set-pieces based around musical hits both new and old. The series has catapulted its young stars (Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley) into the spotlight, and Vibe is delighted to be reliving the high notes and the heartbreak with them from the beginning, every weeknight.

The Golden Globes celebrate their glittering 70th anniversary with the stellar comedy hosting combo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Seen in more than 160 countries worldwide, the Golden Globes kick off the awards season with panache. Taking a break from the spirited run of former host Ricky Gervais, 2013 hosts Tina Fey (30 Rock) and Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) will be a welcome (not to mention hilarious) palate cleanser. Spanning both television and motion picture achievements, the Globes offer a thrilling joyride through hosting hijinks, unfortunately-timed bathroom breaks, and truly heartfelt moments of Hollywood appreciation.

It’s 1938, London and Julia Lambert is a beautiful and captivating actress in her forties who rules London’s West End. At her peak both physically and professionally and married to the handsome impresario Michael Gosselyn, Julia appears to have it all. However, as her marriage becomes stiflingly routine and she realises that her age is catching up with her, she decides a romance with a dashing young American might be the cure for her midlife crisis. Starring Annette Bening and Jeremy Irons.

Based on the best-selling novel by Shirley Conran, this two part miniseries reveals with extravagance and panache the shocking lengths to which a daughter will go to punish the mother she’s never known. A now famous young movie star (Phoebe Cates) travels the world on a glamorous, jet-setting quest to learn which of three powerful, internationally renowned women is her mother – a woman who abandoned her at birth, leaving her to be seduced and exploited before growing into an international celebrity. Murder mystery maven Angela Lansbury also stars.

VIBE – Wednesdays from 9 January, 9.30pm

Looking for love can be tricky – for some more than others. This uplifting three-part series follows the journeys of several extraordinary singletons as they enter the dating circuit in pursuit of love. From a stand-up comedian with Tourettes and a trapeze artist with brittle bones, to a media student with Down’s Syndrome, an amateur poet with a learning disability, and a skateboarder with a facial disfigurement, the series follows the lovelorn hopefuls as they enter the world of blind dates, matchmakers and speed dating. Exploring the realities of looking for love in an image-obsessed world, where snap judgments and first impressions are paramount, The Undateables achieves what the Guardian calls ‘an honest, personal depiction of what are universal experiences… Sometimes funny, sometimes aching, it doesn’t once say disability and dating don’t quite fit.’
