Back in the day when I was working in the music industry, Dawson’s Creek was a part of my life so it is somewhat interesting to hear that a reboot of the show might be on the cards. But as Katie Holmes has said, “Do you really want to see Dawson Leery and Joey Potter pushing 40?

The Dawson’s Creek star is sounding off about any reunion potential, and, well, it may not please some fans longing to see Pacey, Joey, Dawson and the ghost of Jen (Michelle Williams) back together again. “I don’t know,” she said in a Yahoo Style interview with Joe Zee. “Does it work today? I don’t want them to grow up. It’s kind of like your parents, they never get out of their 50s. That’s where they are.”

jay-jay-harveyWe know that Jay Jay from The Edge is the first of the celebs to join TV3’s new Dancing With the Stars series but who else will take to the dance floor?

While there are bound to be plenty of Mediaworks employees on the billing, which other kiwi sports people or politicians would you like to see on the show?

GlorivaleThere have been a number of accusations that Seven Sharps coverage and an insider look at Gloriavale tonight is just copying of Campbell Live’s recent expose on the community. It’s not the first time this has happened, as you’d well expect. Current affairs is current affairs.

I do have a question though. I know that TV One’s Sunday had a feature on Gloriavale on the 19th of April and that Campbell Live has had extensive coverage since then but what I’m not aware of is, was there any specific coverage prior to this?

I can see that there was a story in March about a family that left the community and went to Timaru but has there been any coverage that you’ve seen other than this on either channel?

hollyoaks-nzA reader asked “Are you able to find out why UKTV NZ have axed Hollyoaks?”.

The hit UK soap Hollyoaks disappeared from UKTV recently which sent their Facebook page into overdrive.

UKTV replied saying

following a review of UKTV’s daytime programming, we’ve decided to stop showing Hollyoaks in order to bring viewers more of the comedy classics like Fawlty Towers, Keeping Up Appearances and ‘Allo ‘Allo. It won’t be back for the foreseeable future unfortunately.

The flurry of responses from viewers were very similar to this: Continue reading »

There’s this old adage around having taxpayer funding for local content that it’s so we can see ourselves on screen. But do we really want to?

I’m talking, of course, about the ratings between TV3’s The X Factor NZ and The Bachelor NZ and the new series of TV2’s My Kitchen Rules from Australia.

After only 3 days, TV2 has beaten the local shows every night.

It should be an very interesting Campbell Live tonight. According to some, the entire review by Mediaworks of Campbell Live is at the behest of the government and their management pals. Will John Campbell avoid further conflict in the office and ignore the story of the day or will he pursue the Prime Minister for his inappropriate behaviour?

And if he does discuss the childhood antics of many primary school boys as being display by the Rt Hon John Key, will this result in swift action and an early announcement of the results of the review?

From the Tip Line:

It is a bit rich for TVNZ and MediaWorks to claim their rights, that they have paid for, have been breached. If it has not been explicitly stated in their complaint, it is most certainly implied implicitly. They give the impression they have exclusive and all encompassing rights. This is not true.

In their letter to BNSL their lawyers state : “our clients hold exclusive rights within New Zealand to make various copyright works available to the public for viewing via distribution platforms and video on demand services (the copyright works)”.

What they fail to say is Continue reading »

DWTS-TV3As announced yesterday,Dancing With the Stars is returning to TV but it has a new home on TV3.
