A Marine Captain banished to an island prison discovers a primitive and dangerous society divided into two warring camps.
In the year 2022, a ruthless prison warden (Michael Lerner) has created the ultimate solution for his most troublesome and violent inmates: Absalom, a secret jungle island where prisoners are abandoned and left to die. When Marine Capt. John Robbins (Ray Liotta), convicted of murdering a commanding officer, is deposited there, he discovers a primitive civilization divided into two factions: the Outsiders, anarchistic savages presided over by the embittered Marek (Stuart Wilson), and the Insiders, a smaller group of peaceful colonists led by a wise dictator called The Father (Lance Henriksen). Captured by the Outsiders, Robbins escapes to join the Insiders, but his thoughts are focused on leaving the island. As the tension between the Outsiders and the Insiders grows, this hardy group of survivors must bond together in their struggle for life and freedom.
