TV3 logs only 7 complaints

Yesterday, TV 3 aired a story about complaints that were flooding into the switch board. Throng has learnt that only seven calls have been logged that made reference to anyone being unhappy about the model's dresses since the show aired.

There is plenty of discussion happening here on throng as well as on Trade Me and on Damian Christie's Blog at Public Address about the show and whether or not it is simply a media beat up by the network to drive ratings.

I have been a regular viewer to tv3 news for a considerable number of years but since Campbell Live interview with the supposedly person who masterminded the THEFT of New Zealand's war medals I am seriously considering a move to another television news broadcaster. I find it totally outrageous that you would give any credence whatsoever to anyone that was involved in the process of tarnishing the courageous memories of New Zealanders. This in my opinion lacks moral or adequate standards in showing such a programme and also gives the feeling that you are aiding and abetting the peoples involved.

Why is it necessary to play that terrible "music" during the reading of the headline news? It is enough to make one change to another channel

TV3 wouldve gotten heaps but have hidden them and downplayed it to 7. The last hassle they were in was the Catholic/Southpark scrap. Canwest say they only ended up with 4 calls when i know for sure a whole Church all put in complaints but somehow were filed in rubbish bin lmao!

Watch for this with the upcoming rugby world cup. There will be a story every day even if there's isn't need for one.

It's a shame they didn't mention the one caller who phoned in to say thanks!!

I did wonder how many calls there were complaining about the show. Wonder how many there were to the broadcasting authority? 0?

3 News... pimping their shows.

I may have to switch back to One News (shudder) if this keeps on going on. I have no interest in watching that show. Blatant hyping up of shows is a real turn off.

Shame on you TV3.

Hey, here's a thought: 7 people on Throng call up and complain about something... let's say, the quality of 3 News.

Maybe we'll make that will be the headline news too? /end sarcasm.

It's this type of 'news' which irks me most. People rave on about TV3 news ratings vs TV One but to be honest, are either providing us a true quality news service or are they merely bowing down to commerical pressures?

A 90-second ad for their TV show in the guise of 'complaints' over boobies is what will become more commonfare unless it's brought to light. Thanks to Damien and Throng, people will be more informed and hopefully a little less tolerant of these ads when they next, erm, pop up.
