Throng

We've been reflecting on what it's been like running Throng this past year and to give you some insight into our thoughts on the TV industry here in New Zealand.

We've been getting sent more and more things in the mail promoting different TV shows and our postie is always intrigued by the parcels from various TV networks.

The most impressive and memorable items we've been mailed this year almost always came from UK TV. Ranging from a camo rucksack promoting reality show I'm a celebrity, get me out of here containing a large black hairy spider (the rubber variety), a most useful fly swat (in the shape of Australia) and of course promotional brochures.

Today we received a large white box with a long stem rose in it - fake but a chocolate rose bud (yum) promoting their upcoming mini series entitled Casanova which starts on December 2 and stars David Tennant.

Another parcel in the mail was a general UKTV promotion which was a packet of sticking plasters with UKTV logos on them and label "side splitting laughs". We've also had a funky large notebook.

The most memorable non-UKTV promotional item in the mail would have to be Sky 1's Dexter parcel. Inside it was a ball of red wool, a slide with fake blood, rubber gloves, a roll of plastic wrap and a DVD with the first episode of in.

I'll upload some photos soon for you of some of these things to give you a better idea. I love UKTV's creativity at promoting their shows and love getting their parcels in the mail. Congrats to publicist Katie Fisher and the rest of the UK TV team!
