NZ TV Premiere: Ultimate Survival: Defiant Courage
The History Channel – Tuesday 15 January, 8.30pm
This is not a typical WWII combat tale. The mission it recounts failed, yet seldom has a war story documented such astonishing heroism and human determination. Our story begins in March 1943 with a team of 12 expatriate Norwegian commandos, disguised as fisherman, sailing home from a secret British training base. Bound for the coast of Nazi-occupied Norway, their mission was to organize and supply the Norwegian resistance above the Arctic Circle. Betrayed by Nazi sympathizers, German soldiers ambushed the platoon. Only one man survived, Jan Baalsrud, and this is his story of fortitude against incredible odds.

Today, a new generation of seekers have begun to re-examine the ancient text and its wisdom that have shaped our modern world in ways that few understand.

Glencoe Massacre - Monday 7 January
Channel Premiere: Glencoe Massacre
The History Channel – Monday 7 January, 8.30pm
The Glencoe massacre is one of the most famous and emotive legends in Scottish History, yet it remains as one of the most oversimplified and misunderstood. It is a story of power games, betrayal and slaughter under trust. In the early hours of 13th February 1692 whilst a blizzard howled through Glen Coe, 38 men, women and children of the clan MacDonald were slaughtered in their homes. Despite popular belief this was not a typical clash between two highland clans but a planned and premeditated attempt at eliminating a community by Government soldiers, serving under the King.
