Set in Dublin in 1967, this is the story of feisty woman, who along with her seven children, learns to cope with adversity after the unexpected death of her husband. As Agnes finds her finances waning, she struggles to make ends meet, and eventually winds up selling fruits and vegetables at her Market Street stall. There, she encounters a menagerie different from the one she mothers at home. When a French baker takes an interest in her, Agnes realises that she still has her own life to live, even as she must provide for her family... Suddenly finding herself coming of age, she takes a second chance at life and love, while always keeping her twin senses of humour and resilience.
