MyFreeview|HD | Raves
The Homecast HT9200DTR MyFreeview Box has arrived!!!
I wake up, stroll to the door while cursing at the courier man for coming so early, and there sitting on the doorstep is this wonderful new MyFreeview/HD Box for me to have a looksee at. Exciting! Although I must admit, I picked it up, looked at it, put it down and went back to bed.
So I thought (a bit later on), lets see what this is all about, pulled it out, had a look.... nice.... its quite pretty looking really. Not an ugly big box like what I was expecting, very suave and tidy looking. (I will try to get a photo of it up here soon). The instructions that come with it, although lengthy, are actually pretty easy to follow. I didn't have time to get into the installing of it then and there, as I had to pop out to Uni - but I had full intentions of sitting down with hubby later on and setting it up. But lo and behold I didn't have to!!! I received a phone call later on to say someone was coming over to check out our aerial (its a bit bung... not sure if it would work or not) and install it for me. YAY!!! I'm all for things getting installed for you
I watched the installation process, and actually I really could have done it myself. Unlike setting up channels for TV's and the like, it was actually really easy - self tunes. All the channels are preset (e.g. 1 will be 1, 2 will be 2... and Prime will be 10) so you don't have to try and pick out what channel is what to program it in. Awesome! Sadly we only have one HDMI input plug thingee at the back of our TV, so the poor PS3 had to be unplugged for the Freeview - meh. At the moment when we want to play PS3 we just have to unplug and plug back in... no biggie. Apparently you can buy a little switch that sits at the front of your tv that can do this for you for about $150 - not sure we will bother.
So anyway, I was a bit concerned about how much it would take to pick up on this whole recording stuff. EASY PEASY!!! Its all colour coded, easy to do, very simple. I love it. Still getting used to being able to record shows, but we are catching on. So far I think we have Pulp Sport and 7 days on series record, because we rarely are able to watch them at their normal time its very handy. I intend to record a couple of new shows starting soon. I have also recorded a couple of cartoons off Channel 6 for my little girl to watch, that way I know what she is watching and can just play them for her when she gets home - very very handy! I'm loving it!
And the picture quality is amazing! Watching the tv without going through MyFreeview is really dull by comparison! It looks great, and even sounds better for some reason too!
So first week so far looking great, loving it, and looking forward to being able to benefit from this recording of programs. Haven't had much of a chance to check out the other programs offered on Freeview yet - but wouldn't imagine I will watch a lot of the news channel or anything. However must say that at this stage it looks like Sky is going to be cut off - no need for it, and have only watched it a couple of times since the Freeview came along - and that was only for the Disney channel for my daughter.
Will fill everyone in later in the week to see how its all going
