7:30pm Monday, December 28 on Prime

Entertainment

Arggghhh me hearties! Jamie and Adam have plundered the seven seas in search of pirate parables and maritime myths and the result is this 2-hour spectacular.

In Cannonball vs Splinters, Adam and Jamie once again have a blast with big guns. Their excuse this time - supposedly when pirate captains ran down their treasure-laden prey and delivered a mighty broadside blast with their cannon, the splinters created on impact with the ship would cause more deaths than the cannonballs themselves.

Mythbusters: Christmas Special

December 25th, 2009

7:40pm Friday, December 25 on Prime

Factual

Christmas is traditionally a time for peaceful reflection, and quiet time with family - but not in the Mythbusters workshop. Jamie and Adam consider it their civic duty to put festive myths to the test, and they do so with their usual random mix of enthusiasm and intuition.

Will putting a silver spoon in a champagne bottle keep it fizzy? Can turkeys explode if you cook them too fast? If you step outside after a few too many festive drinks, and relieve yourself in the snow, could it ever be cold enough for your urine stream to freeze? Will lighting a fire actually make your house colder? Which melts faster - a dressed snowman, or an undressed one? If you fall asleep under the eaves of your house, could an icicle fall and kill you?

The Mythbusters come up with answers to all these questions, so that we can all celebrate this Christmas with greater certaint

Mythbusters: Car Cling

October 8th, 2009

7:30pm Thursday, October 8 on Prime

Entertainment

Adam and Jamie do the 'Car Cling' when they set out to see if it really is possible to cling to the roof of a speeding and swerving car like they do in action movies.

Meanwhile Kari, Tori and Grant are challenged once again by the fans to solve some outlandish jailbreak myths. In the first myth 'Floss to Freedom' the team need to find out if it is possible to break out of jail by cutting their way through solid steel bars using dental floss!

'Cannonball Escape', the second jailbreak myth is more high octane but just as bizarre. A preposterous prison tale from the 18th century claims that a prisoner once put his ball and chain, which was shackled to his ankle, in the prison ceremonial cannon and fired himself over the prison wall to freedom. To find out if this is possible, Tori builds his own 18th century cannon.

Mythbusters: Alaska Special

October 1st, 2009

7:30pm Thursday, October 1 on Prime

Entertainment

Alaska is the very definition of intense. With more volcanoes than any other state in America, a gaggle of glaciers and enough wildlife to make David Attenborough salivate, it's without doubt, one of the most intense places on earth.

In this Alaska Special, the whole team packs up its sleds, snowshoes and gold pans and heads north to test some Alaskan anecdotes.

Adam and Jamie trek deep into one of the most desolate wildernesses on earth - the Alaskan ice fields. Here, in the depths of winter, under huge open skies, not a soul stirs and this makes it the perfect place to test cabin fever. If left alone in the remote hills of Alaska, can you really go mad?

Skydivers and See-Saws on Mythbusters

September 24th, 2009

7:30pm Thursday, September 24 on Prime

Entertainment

On this high-flying episode of Mythbusters, the whole team tackles one massive and improbable myth: could a skydiver whose parachute failed to open hit a playground see-saw and send a small girl flying seven stories high? And would she survive the ordeal?

This myth involves a reverse bungee jump from a very high bridge and another leap from 2 miles high to judge the speed of the hapless skydiver.

While Kari constructs the fall-guy, Jamie designs and builds what just might be the world's lightest, strongest and most effective see-saw. It's an engineering marvel that Jamie is justly proud of, but will it hurl the girl 70 feet high? And can it survive the crippling impact of an average man falling at terminal velocity?

Mythbusters: YouTube Special

September 10th, 2009

7:30pm Thursday, September 10 on Prime

Entertainment Series

For the Mythbusters 'YouTube Special', Adam and Jamie test if 30,000 match heads, a tin bucket and a slow burning fuse could create a huge fireball.

Meanwhile, the Build Team take on an immensely popular viral video that features a giant ball of Lego rolling down the streets of San Francisco. In one of the team's biggest builds ever, the Build Team attempt to replicate the Lego sphere - 7-feet in diameter and purportedly created from 5 million pieces - and roll it down a hill, Indiana Jones style, into a parked car.

Finally, Adam and Jamie use a series of tests with a flexed-up muscle car to test a YouTube posting that says you can make a car tire catch fire if you spin it fast enough and long enough.
