Nestle New Zealand's Hottest Home Baker Premiere

8:30pm - Thursday, February 4 on TV 3

Premiering on Thursday, February 4th at 8:30pm on 3, this summer's hottest new show, Nestle New Zealand's Hottest Home Baker, is celebrating New Zealand's love affair with home baking.

This brand new reality series, hosted by New Zealand's Next Top Model judge Colin Mathura-Jeffree, with judges Dean Brettschneider and Pauline Nunns, features eight top amateur home bakers from across New Zealand competing for the grand prize of $20,000 and title of New Zealand's Hottest Home Baker.

"Nestle New Zealand's Hottest Home Baker is a series that showcases love and emotion through food," explains Mathura-Jeffree. "It's fascinating to watch the sophistication, dedication, and disasters...," he adds.

Avid bakers, contestants were chosen from hundreds of applications from across the country, each bringing their own signature baking dish to the show, as well as their unique style of baking and personality!

"They're incredibly varied, they came from all across New Zealand," Mathura-Jeffree says of the eight contestants. "Their common link, however, is in a bowl and in the recipes, and of course the wanting to share their yummy goodies!"

From cupcakes, pies and pavlovas, to baking and decorating the perfect cake, each episode will hold a fresh and delicious challenge to test the contestants baking versatility and inventiveness.

"I am so glad to be part of all this great series," Mathura-Jeffree continues. "I get to taste the bake goods of some of the country's top bakers..."

They may be the country's top bakers, but do they have what it takes to be New Zealand's Hottest Home Baker? Find out when we get our fist introductions to all eight contestants in the season premiere of Nestle New Zealand's Hottest Home Baker, screening on Thursday, February 4th at 8:30pm on 3.

this is a great series.  These women are awesome and make very good television.  I will be sorry to see them go after the competition.  I hope you will keep making this series.

I like the bakers, they home bakers and I think they do a great job. But the judges are useless. I dont like them. Bakers who stayed way to long and they sent other home who were really good, whats going on there...did they feel threatened. I loved the creativity of the cup cake where the baker did spaghetti bolognese. This was awesome but the female judge didnt like it...come on this was fantastic...insecure i think. The judges put me off I mean the guy is always on about adding tomatoes for colour is that all he has. I think those two actually put anyone off baking again. These people are not professionals just enjoy it but maybe after going on this show they wont love baking anymore.

The host is ok but I do wonder sometimes what he is thinking with some of hair styles. But he is better than the judges

I only watch this part of the show because you have such a big star on like Colin Mathura Jeffree, why then, with someone as witty and as talented as Colin would you only give him a few seconds to speak and then talk over him, which Oliver does all the time! Please don't it's very frustrating, let us hear and see Colin, don't you realise how lucky you are to have him on! Joanne South Australia

Yikes the show is pretty ghastly and so contrived and boring I actually only watched the first one in full then switched over and only switched back at the end to see who had won.  The host is gross with his vile talk and made me cringe and the judges boring and the contestants ...why didnt they get people all round the same age each time if one is older they have more cooking experience by far than the younger ones.  It was just all out of whack.  Get an older person for the host  who has a granny or motherly appeal too  and it may stand a chance of survival.

The recipes are mostly out of the Edmonds cookbook. I was looking forward to a show were talented bakers (the best NZ has to offer) would share amazing recipes with us. instead all we get is people who obviously want to front a cooking show of their own. Not one of them inspires me to get my cake pans out! As for Joanne - we ARE entitled to an opinion. the show IS bad, the host IS creepy, performances ARE poor. Will there be series 2 - errr No.

I must say I thoroughly am ejoying the Nestle Baking competition.  The cooks have done a great job and the recipes are very precious to the baker.  I love shows like this.  Much better than many of the other cooking shows on at present.  May there be many more baking competitions.  It is an absolute pleasure to watch.

Oh for god's sake Joanne Whittles cry me a river for the slum dog millionaires! India has a greater economy than Australia and NZ combined. Let them look after their own impoverished instead of some do-gooders setting up expensive international trusts to pay themselves in order to make them feel good that they are actually doing something meaningful. Clean up the huge inequities in your own back yard before you climb on the celebrity "let's look after the poor children of this world" Jolie-Pitt bandwagon.

Have you ever heard anyone around you talking like those candidates in this show?? It is so rehearsed and pretentious. that host...i respect him for being whoever he is, but i do feel sad that he was chosen for this show. it is not like that NZ doesn't have someone else.

So okay this is me in this article, this is the real Colin also,  this is what he spends his spare time doing, what do you lot do? being sad and miserable and utter bitches......jealous, pathetic losers, your comments upset me, I envisage Colin reading this and that hurts me, It dosn't hurt him,  but he is so focused on what matters he just laughs about it, I feel sorry for all of you haters...Colin will continue to host great shows and save children's lives in India.....and honour the memory of the little girl I found....what did you do today?...........

Oh sorry Jun for curdling your whey, I am not Kimberley or Whipped. I know you are shocked that there maybe more than two people that share similar views about your girlfriend? And your right, Colin hurt me sooo badly. When I slept with him he said he was lead singer of Pussycat Dolls. And I believed him.

Please accept my humble apologies for having and opinion and airing it. I was suffering from Labour govt post trauma. But don't worry, when they get  back in you will be free to rule again!!

Im enjoying it. Im loving the host. Colin Mathara Jeffere is a new face and a breath of fresh hair styles to teevee.

Kimberley Whipped and Himiltron - are you the same person?

Did the host Collin sleep with your lover? your so bitter its turning my milk to yoghurt.

Best thing about teevee is turn it off if you dont like it.To whine and whine and whine is showing you to be a class A loser.

So smack your hands...whipe your mouth arses and get a life.

Go Grayson for the win!

Hamilton..... you need your own show.... that made me laugh out loud!

Is Colin a guy or a girl? I'm sure it's the question everyone's minds when they see him but are afraid to ask.

I like watching the contestants bake and their comments but I am sick of Colin's gay cliches and innuedos.... "wow I've had a lot of different things in my mouth before but this is new"; "I'm the baking queen..oh sorry I mean king"...or his obvious gaydar eyeballing of Grayson.

Look at me NZ this is a baking show and I'm a skinny fruit cake with hair!!!

He is a pointless excuse for celebrity social climbing TV3 has ever come up with. Next thing he'll be walking the red carpet at the opening of an envelope. Ditch him in favour of Alison Holst and stick him on Celebrity Treasure Island with Horse, Willie Apiata and Josh Kronfeld please.

It's bad enough I have to watch these programs but honestly who is this guy????

Awful!!!

We used to think April was the worst most unprofessianal cooking host as she obviously wasn't a cook or a baker but come on Colin Mathura-Jeffree is even worst a disgusting scraggly long haired mincing creep!!  It's embarrasing to be a New Zealander to have such a poor standard series showing to air come on NZ can't we do better than this?????!!!!!

Kimberly

haaa haa my partner & I totally agree what the hell and how totally inappropriate & unprofessional!!!!!!!!!!!  Come on NZ

HOW...  she was asked to baked something... not cook a pie and she used brought pasty

I haven't watched it since the first episode but the ads for the second episode where the lady comments that she forgot to add an ingredient because she was too busy talking was enough to put me off. If this was a serious enough cooking/baking show, the host wouldn't go around annoying the contestants and putting them off.

We watched the first episode but will not be watching any more. HOW could they eliminate Amy (who cooked the spinach pie) after completely trashing her presentation (they went on and on about it) and yet keep the woman who made a complete MESS of the ginger biscuits (the cheesecake flopped and the ice-cream melted all over the plate)?! HER presentation was a disgrace and yet it was not even monetioned?! Hubby and I agreed we'd be more than happy being served the pie in a cafe, but if presented with the ginger biscuits as a dessert we would not hesitate in sending it back to the kitchen! Would be interesting to see exactly HOW the scoring is calculated or do the judges just go on 'gut feel'? In any case we won't be watching this again... Amy did not deserve to go home!!!

I didn't like the host at first either, but he was much better in episode 2.  I think they were all too nervous in the first episode!

What an absolute disapointment, you have a bunch of wannabe cooking show hosts who waffle on incessantly teamed with judges who wouldnt be satisfied with 3 star michelin meals by the sound of thier comments. Will not be wasting my time watching again, an utter bunch of crap

Seriously seriously bad television. Horrible Host. A massive embarressment to NZ Television. Poor Effort TV3. Masterchef on TV1 was amazing compared to this crap.

OMG that was so cringe worthy.  Why do they keep using this Colin guy, are we so desperate for people to be able to walk and talk at the same time that we use what ever rubbish is avaiable?  I mean the show with another host would be bad enough, but with him it is a waste of space, big time.  Nestle did you watch any of the shows before they were put out?  If so then shame on you.  This reminds me of shows 10-20 years ago it was so bad.  It was so fake and contrived I spend most of the time laughing.  I could do better than most of the bakers and definatly much better than the host.

I will not be wasting time in watching this piece of garbage again, and I bet it will be off air very, very soon.

I think that had to be the worst TV to come out of NZ in a long long time. Seriously, where did they find these people? Maybe it's just how they were edited but they came across so badly. I have to agree with the comments about the host, he was probably the worst part of the show. The judging also looked setup, I mean the guy who made the coconut slice had the worst baking of them all. All that dry coconut and even the raspberry wasn't nice (well so they judges said) and he stayed???? Tragic TV

I was really looking forward to this show. It is just so embarassing. If that was their "signature dish' then I won't bother watching next week. I didn't mind the judges but found the host just AWFUL. He added nothing to the show and everything that came out of his mouth made me cringe! Even the music was just soooooooo bad.

This show is an embrassment to food tv, can't believe that nestle would associate themselves with such trash. The Judges are on a power trip, the show wouldn't be a bad idea if they stuck to the concept (Home Baker) - home bakers use store brought pastry, make slices ... come on, get real or change the name to new zealands best baker. Whats next, the judges going to rubbish some one for using Nestle chocolate when Ohhh I would never use anything but the finest Belgium Chocolate, and that host! Nestle whats to associate themselves with sleaze, is it necessary to make those comments? Overall a good no, fantastic idea, just poorly executed. Look i love food programmes and watch whenever I'm able, but i must say this is a first, i will not be watching this trash again.
