"Calling time on TV news?" - Herald on Sunday

Jonathan Marshall has written a great article about TV news for the Herald on Sunday, in particular the timeslot being 6.00 p.m..

Mark Jennings, head of news and current affairs at MediaWorks, made a very good point that I completely agree with, "You will see the 6pm news subtly change into more contextualising and analysis. It will not be as concerned with breaking news, breaking news will be online."

The full article is available online. I urge you all to read it.

The Herald/print media is always slagging off the TV companies - they're competition...

i don't think this article is that great this debate has been around for years and has been mentioned in newspapers numerous times. this is just another one of them that doesn't add anything new to what we already know

What a pathetic history on the news,
What a pathetic article.

Tui dont worry about Shortland Street if they move the news, then they will move Shortland Street to suit, seems logical choice

I've always thought moving the news back to around 7.30 would be a great idea. 7pm would be alright, but Shortland Street watchers would miss their show, and 7pm is currently home to Campbell Live and Close Up.
