It’s a reunion of epic proportions when Val Kilmer (Top Gun, The Doors) reunites with Top Gun director Tony Scott for a very special action-packed episode of Numb3rs when the hit series screens on Sunday, December 14th at 9:30pm on 3.
The episode titled “Trust Metric” will see Kilmer portraying Mason Lancer, the brains behind last season’s shocking events which led to the discovery that Agent Colby Granger (Dylan Bruno) was a mole within the FBI.
“It’s a double whammy!” says David Krumholtz, who portrays Charlie Eppes on Numb3rs, about having both Kilmer and Scott on the series. “We’ve had a lot of great actors on the show, but Val takes the cake. We’ve got to thank Tony for bringing him in.”
Like Krumholtz’s Numb3rs character, Charlie Eppes, Kilmer, who, as well as Top Gun, has worked with Scott on the hit films True Romance and Déjà Vu, is no stranger to mathematical plotlines.
“Val played the original math and science genius in Real Genius,” says Krumholtz. “That was shot at Cal Tech, which is where we shoot our show. Val is revisiting his old roots as an actor.”
And although Krumholtz doesn’t have any scenes with Kilmer, he’s more then a little excited to have the star onboard.
“He’s one of the most provocative actors,” he says. “It proves our show is a cut above the rest to attract actors like him. Hopefully this will get more eyes on our show.”
As for Kilmer, the Numb3rs reunion with Scott marks only the first in a long line of upcoming collaborations. Aside from Numb3rs, both Kilmer and Scott have many upcoming projects planed for 2009. Kilmer and Scott are set to appear and direct the miniseries Comanche Moon as well as the upcoming films; Conspiracy, Columbus Day, and Have Dreams.
But before this time make sure to catch the first of these collaborations when Val Kilmer guest stars in the Tony Scott directed “Trust Metric” when Numb3rs screens on Sunday, December 14th at 9:30pm on 3.
