They've broken out, been the subject of a manhunt, been imprisoned and broken out again. Now the run for Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and all the other Fox River escapees is coming to an end. Prison Break screens its series finale on Wednesday, August 5th at 9:30pm on 3.
The show's final season has followed brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows, along with a Homeland Security agent (Michael Rapaport) working to take down the Company, the shadowy firm that initially framed Lincoln and set the whole thing in motion.
This season felt like a natural end point for the show, reveals FOX Entertainment chief Kevin Reilly. "To keep it going was going to be, creatively, really stretching the concept," he tells Zap2It.
That said, Reilly thinks the show's producers "have a really unexpected ending" in mind for the finale. To find out more about this, American TV Guide spoke to Robert Knepper, who stars at Theodore 'T-Bag' Bagwell on the series, about his own character's Prison Break conclusion.
"We talked about it," he told TV Guide about T-Bag finally meeting his demise. "Is he gonna be like Hannibal Lecter? Is he gonna die? Is he gonna go to prison? There are so many choices. I think they picked the greatest one, and I'm not gonna tell you what it is."
But despite the possibility of T-Bag's life ending, Knepper says he's happy to have been part of a series that's got a definite conclusion.
"The writers have had the time to really think about it, to wrap it up," he says. "A lot of shows I've done... they leave you hanging, and you don't know what's going on. This definitely has an ending."
Of course there are the things he'll miss when Prison Break does wrap up. "When you know the rapport with the guys and you feel it everyday for four years, that's what I'll miss," he says. "We'll have some new families, but this was a great family."
