Glee will have Carol Burnett on board for the next season with news the actress will plays Sue Sylvester’s (Jane Lynch) “Nazi-hunting mother”. Details of her cameo appearance have not been revealed.

Dexter star joins Private Practice

Dexter actor James Remar has landed a recurring role on the latest season of Private Practice. The actor is expected to play a physician called Gibby who joins the practice.

House actor releasing album

House actor Hugh Laurie is set to release a New Orleans-style blues album which showcases his skills as a pianist and singer. Laurie will enter the studio to record the album in the next couple of months.

Entourage actor passes away

Canadian actor Maury Chaykin, best known for his role as Harvey Weingard on Entourage, has died aged 61. The actor who played the recurring role of movie producer Weingard on Entourage passed away on his 61st birthday after struggling with kidney problems.

Desperate Housewives lawsuit

There’s been a twist in the tale of ex-Desperate Housewives actress Nicollette Sheridan and her alleged assault by series creator Marc Cherry. The actress’s lawyers now say the network responded to her claim by investigating the incident and concluding that the she had suffered a “light tap on the side of the head” during a rehearsal of a scene. She is attempting to claim damages for wrongful termination, assault and battery, and discrimination.

Benben secures Practice promotion

Actor Brian Benben has been promoted to a series regular on Private Practice. The actor, who plays Dr. Sheldon Wallace, will take up a major role in the medical drama next season after joining in season 2.

Heroes officially axed

Drama series Heroes has officially been axed by its American network NBC. After running for four seasons, the show has been given the boot by its network due to flagging ratings in the third and fourth seasons. Despite premiering strongly in 2006, Heroes suffered badly during the writers strike and subsequently never fully recovered in terms of popularity.

Napoleon Dynamite animated series

US network Fox is developing an animated series based on the 2004 movie Napoleon Dynamite. The majority of the original cast is on board the project including Jon Heder and Efran Ramirez along with the creators Jared and Jerusha Hess.

Name change for Cougar Town?

The creator of Cougar Town would like to change the name of the series as he believes it has moved on too far from its initial premise. Bill Lawrence cited the fact that many people have been put off by the title despite enjoying the content of the show, which has just premiered here on TV2.

Entourage producer's new show

The producers behind Entourage are planning a new show which would centre on a group of women. Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson are currently developing the concept alongside writers Leah Rachel and Emily Montague which will focus on a group of young women “working and finding romance in LA.”

Grey’s Anatomy & Private Practice crossover episodes on TV2

A desperate Mark (Eric Dane) seeks out Addison’s (Kate Walsh) help for his pregnant daughter who risks losing her baby, in thrilling crossover episodes on Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice tonight.

Mark flies Addison to Seattle Grace to attend to his pregnant daughter, Sloan (Leven Rambin, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), who's unborn baby faces life-threatening danger. However it is a complicated procedure, which leads to a decision for Mark and Sloan to return to Oceanside Wellness with Addison.

Elsewhere in Seattle Grace, Owen questions Teddy's (Kim Raver, Lipstick Jungle) motives when she assigns Cristina (Sandra Oh) the lead on a complicated surgery, and Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) suspicions are raised when the Chief (James Pickens Jr) recruits Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) to assist with a high profile operation.

Private Practice double bill on TV 2

An explosion brings a personal trauma into Oceanside Wellness, and the team is left battling to save lives, in a Private Practice double bill, tonight on TV2.

Replacing Grey's Anatomy this week, ahead of a special crossover episode next Tuesday, are two action-packed episodes of Private Practice. A terrible explosion at Dell's house (Chris Lowell) puts Betsey (Hailey Sole) and Heather (Agnes Bruckner) in critical condition, and everyone is pushed to the limit trying to save their lives.

Lowell, who plays Dell on the medical drama, was happy to get the chance to push his character into darker territory, as he reveals to TV Guide USA.
