Sex And The City’s Sarah Jessica Parker acts as guest judge on a very special episode of Project Runway, screening Friday, April 25th at 9:30pm on 3.
Only two episodes into the season and the hit reality series has already delivered one of televisions most recognisable fashion icons as a guest judge. Tonight Sarah Jessica Parker will be asking the designers to create a high fashion look on a low budget for her clothing line, Bitten.
Parker was honoured to have been invited to be a part of Project Runway however underestimated one aspect of her job on the show. "The hardest part was the judging,” she recently admitted in entertainment blog, Josh and Josh are Rich and Famous.
"I didn't want to judge," Parker said. "I felt it in my head, but watching the episode I didn't realise how much editing took place. I didn't realise it was an hour or more dedicated to discussion of the fashion, so watching on TV there's less nuance."
However, despite the uncomfortable feeling the fashion icon got from having to judge the designs, she still can not praise the whole experience highly enough.
“"I loved it! Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and relive it!" Parker gushed to Bravo executive Andy Cohen in a recent interview. "I loved it so much - it was an experience of a lifetime."
After being in the film and television industry for so long, Parker added she was a bit surprised she wasn't up to speed when it came to reality television.
"It was funny that after all these years I wouldn't know better how different the scale between real life and TV is," she told Cohen.
"I kept saying, 'It's so much smaller and the runway looks so much different than it does on TV.' You end up saying everything that people say who've not worked in the industry for 30 years and are going into a studio for the first time. When you're in the audience it's a different feeling."
Overall, the experience was a positive one for the actress, who loved the world of reality television so much she is currently developing her own reality competition series that will pit aspiring artists against each other.
Parker is developing the project with Magical Elves' - the same production company behind Project Runway and Top Chef.
Magical Elves' Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz - who serve as executive producers for Project Runway and Top Chef - were developing their own concept for a reality competition series.
Parker and her partner Alison Benson - who had been developing their own project with a similar concept - were then brought in.
"We ended up marrying the two formats," Cutforth told Variety Magazine.
So fans of the reality genre may soon have a new hit series to look forward to, however in the meantime make sure not to miss one of the world’s biggest fashion icons, Sarah Jessica Parker in a very special episode of Project Runway, screening Friday, April 25th at 9:30pm on 3.
