Prepare for fierceness! This week sees the return of the Heidi Klum hosted reality series Project Runway when the series introduces its 16 new aspiring fashion designers on Friday, February 13th at 9:30pm on 3.

This season will see the 16 brand new designers competing for the $100,000 cash prize, an editorial feature in Elle magazine, the opportunity to sell a fashion line on Bluefly.com and a brand new 2009 Saturn VUE Hybrid.

Joining Klum on this season’s search for the next “it” designer will be fashion guru and series regular Tim Gunn. Gunn recently spoke to People magazine about the upcoming series, revealing to fans that the series’ fifth season will keep them guessing all they way till the winner is announced.

"[Fans] are going to get mad - early! There are some big surprises," says Gunn.  "Favourites won't be there anymore, and I can only imagine how the blogs are going to explode over some of the challenge winners."

But before fans start to worry about their favourite series changing everything that is good about reality TV, Klum assures viewers the upcoming season will be one they will not forget.

"I feel as though we set the bar higher every season," says Klum. "We've got some truly talented, innovative and deeply creative designers this year, and I think it's fair to say, the most diverse – everyone from a rocker chick who mostly works with leather to a more bohemian, surfer boy – and everything in between."

And if these creative, unique designers weren’t enough to make this season one to remember, Klum has also revealed the upcoming series has a very impressive list of guest judges for its upcoming season.

“They will include actress Natalie Portman, [America’s] Dancing With the Stars champ Apolo Ohno, former contestant Austin Scarlett, rapper LL Cool J, iconic dress designer Diane Von Furstenberg, drag queen RuPaul, Brooke Shields, Sandra Bernhard, designer Cynthia Rowley, celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe and Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa,” says Klum.

But before this impressive list of guest judges start throwing their opinions around, make sure to tune into this week’s premiere episode as Klum, Gunn and co introduce the 16 designers who will be at the receiving end of these judgments.

Project Runway’s fifth season premieres on Friday, February 13th at 9:30pm on 3.
