Chris Greener is 7ft7 tall, and has been the tallest man in Britain for the past 39 years – but now he has a challenger to the title.
Chris is just one of an extraordinary group of people who has to cope with intense attention every time he leaves the house - strangers staring at him and bombarding him with questions. Only three in every million individuals get to become members of this most exclusive club - these people aren't just tall, they're breaking the 7ft barrier.
There's 26-year-old Neil Fingleton - the last time he could get through the doorways without stooping was when he was about nine years old, and was touching 7ft by the time he was 11. At 7ft7.5, he's about to take Chris's crown and end his long career as Britain's tallest man.
At 7ft9, 56-year-old Bao Xishun has been in the record books for the last three years as the tallest man in the world. The title has proved lucrative for Xishun, but seven weeks ago he lost his crown to a man from a remote rural village in the Ukraine. At a staggering 8ft4, Leonid Stadnyk is a full seven inches taller than Xishun. He's new to the Guinness World Record Books, but is a reluctant title holder. As he puts it: "As far as I'm concerned, I don't think my height is an accomplishment." And ex-title holder Xishun hasn't lost everything - he recently got married. Separated by 27 years and 27 inches, Xishun and his bride Xia Shujuan are enjoying being newly-weds.
Alana Renaud was 6ft2 by the time she was 13. Throughout her teens and early 20s, she had problems dating as her height approached 7ft. Now at 27, she's happily engaged - but how do you find a wedding dress for someone with 40-inch legs?
How does the human body grow to such an exceptional height? How do these people fit in? And can they find love? Find out what life is like for them in Real Life: Superhuman Giants, Wednesday 23 July at 9.30pm on TV ONE.
