Shortland Street: Monday 6 July - Friday 10 July 2009

Weekdays, 7pm

A life is put on the line on Shortland Street this week, all thanks to Daniel Potts’ (Ido Drent) foolish actions. When his latest money-making scheme gets out-of-hand, Daniel is forced to step up to the plate and decide whether to accept responsibility for his actions.

When sneaky Daniel's plot to flog off stolen goods gets complicated, he enlists the help of his reluctant friend Ryan (Reece Rodewyk), encouraging him to secretly use TK's (Ben Mitchell) car in order to complete the deal.

But unfortunately things don't go according to plan. Just when Daniel thinks they are in the clear, he learns that Ryan has been involved in a serious accident whilst driving TK's car.

"Daniel is left in total shock by the damage his delinquency has caused," says Ido Drent. "Not wanting to be associated with such an awful situation, his reaction is to immediately deny all involvement."

Though TK is certain of Daniel's link to the accident, his mum Sarah (Amanda Billing) is reluctant to acknowledge that her son could have been involved in the situation.

"Even though all of the signs are pointing towards Daniel's involvement, Sarah doesn't want to believe that her son is capable of doing such a thing," says Drent. "She has tried so hard to be the best mum possible, but Daniel just keeps letting her down."

As Ryan's life hangs in the balance, Daniel seems to put down his emotional shutters, refusing to accept the seriousness of the situation.

"It's like he thinks that if he ignores Ryan's injuries they might all disappear," says Drent.

Will Daniel find a way to get himself out of this mess? Keep watching Shortland Street to find out.
